Do you have a peace lily plant in your indoor collections and you are seeking guidelines on how to grow the plant and also bloom it? If you are, then, this article is for you.

Peace lily plants tend to grow and bloom when provided with the right amount of sunlight, water, suitable soil mix, the right temperature and humidity level as well as fertilizer. To know more about them, keep scrolling and reading.

7 Care Guide on How To Get Peace Lily To Bloom

Below are the various ways that you can care for your peace lily plant. They include:

    1. Provide Sufficient Sunlight

The first care for your peace lily plant is ensuring that it receives the right amount of sunlight that can help it bloom. It enjoys being placed at a spot or window where it can receive bright indirect sunlight.

This must constantly be done every 6-8 hours daily during its growing season. Place the plant a few feets closer or to the east-facing window as it is the best spot.

However, avoid leaning your peace lily plant in direct sunlight. Even if it has to be placed directly in the sunlight, it mustn’t exceed more than 2 hours per day.

Furthermore, if the sunlight isn’t sufficient enough to bloom the flowers, you can opt for an artificial light such as a glowing light.

    2. Water Properly

Another important care that can help your peace lily plant to bloom is by ensuring that you water the plants properly when it is dry.

Allowing the soil to dry off completely before watering can damage the roots of the plant and make the plant much harder to flower.

You can easily detect the lack of moisture by testing the soil with your finger every 2-4 days. If you notice that the topmost inch of the potting mix is dry, then it’s time to water your plant. Ensure that the soil gets wet enough to be dripping off from the drainage holes.

Furthermore, you can also water your plant correctly by using distilled water. However, avoid overwatering or underwatering your plants.

    3. Fertilizer Regularly

Feeding your peace lily plant with the right fertilizer will go a long way in helping your plant to bloom. The fertilizer will help to keep your plant from running low on the necessary nutrients that can help the flowers to bloom.

The best suitable type of fertilizer is a well-balanced formula that has been diluted to a lower concentration. It must contain nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium, etc. Give your plant a ¼ to ½-strength application every 4-6 weeks during the growing season and stop applying fertilizer during the mid-to-late fall.

Furthermore, you must administer the right amount as instructed by the manufacturer and avoid over-fertilizing to prevent your plant leaves from wilting or turning brown at the tips. However, if it has affected your leaves, do well to remedy the problem by rinsing off the minerals out of the pot and allowing a large volume of water to drain out through the holes.

    4. Maintain Optimal Temperature

The optimal temperature for your piece of lily is between 65°F-68°F. They are the ideal range for the blooming of the plant flowers especially at night. However, any temperature below will cause your plant to dry up or experience stunt growth.

Furthermore, avoid keeping the plant at a cold or frost spot, heater or air conditioner. Do well to move the plant indoors during the winter season.

    5. Increase Humidity

The humidity level isn’t a big problem when it comes to your peace lily plant but still, you must keep your plant at a suitable place with the right humid rate.

The humid level for your plant must exceed 50°F and anything below, will cause some damage to the plant. To increase the humidity level, you can get air moisture or you can place your peace lily close to other tropical houseplants.

Furthermore, you can also get a humidifier, kist the plant with lukewarm water or place the pot on a tray of pebbles and water.

    6. Prune Regularly

Blooming of this plant will require the pruning of your plant to remove or cut off any dead stem, affected stem or roots by pests and diseases. This cutting must be done with utmost care as it can rid the plant if not pruned at the right spots.

However, before you start pruning your plant, gently examine for any illness at the roots or stems and if found, do well to cut them off using your clean, sharpen, and sterilized pruner shear.

    7. Repot Regularly

To repot your peace lily plant, you must follow this guide:

    A. Ensure that you split off the younger plants and grow them separately.

    B. Simply unroot your peace lily, find the spot where the new crown diverges from the roots, and peel it away. You can usually do this by just pulling the two halves apart with your hands.

    C. Plant each Peace Lily in a new pot with a well-aerated, soilless potting mix. For the next month or so, keep the humidity high and don’t expose the transplants to direct sunlight.

    D. Be extra vigilant about over-watering until you see new leaves popping up.

    E. The new ones mature for a year or two and produce flowers of their own.

If you follow these 7 factors that can aid your peace lily plant to bloom, you will have a great gardening season in the end.

    FAQs

    1. How Do You Keep Your Plant Blooming?

To keep your plant blooming, you must provide it with bright indirect sunlight, water, soil mix, the best temperature and humidity level and many others.

    2. Is Peace Lily Better In Water or Soil?

Peace lilies need consistently moist soil, but they definitely don’t like to sit in standing water.
Whenever the top inch of soil is dry, water the plant until the overflow starts to come out of the bottom of the container. Then, wait until it stops draining, then set the pot back in its saucer.

    3. Can You Grow A Peace Lily From Cuttings?

Peace lilies can’t be propagated by leaf or stem cuttings, but they can easily be propagated by division during any season.

    Conclusion

For your peace lily plant to bloom, there is a need to provide quality blooming factors such as sunlight, water, fertilizer, temperature level and humidity range.

They will go a long way in helping your plant to not just bloom but to also stay healthy. Do well to give your plant enough time to absorb the care and mature before blooming forth.
